Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent the Russian player won his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
It is his initial trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since that period of 2023.
The win also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an improved service.
He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
Both players traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
Moutet rescued 4 early opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
